01The challenge
Traditional shea butter processing is labour-intensive, time-consuming and inefficient.
Women spend long hours producing small quantities of butter while facing health and environmental risks from smoke and open fires.
02Our intervention
DFWC established the Envirofit Shea Butter Processing Centre to introduce improved processing technology that raises efficiency and productivity. The project includes:
- Installing improved shea processing equipment
- Training women in modern processing techniques
- Improving production quality and efficiency
- Promoting environmentally friendly processing
03The impact
- Women significantly reduced processing time.
- Shea butter production increased in both quantity and quality.
- Improved technology reduced physical strain on women.
- Women gained better access to higher-value markets.
